I spent seven years photographing families and weddings in the Pacific Islands, and five years before that in Europe. Now I call Kansas City home, and I photographed a family session at the Loose Park Rose Garden — one of the most beautiful spots for family photos in Kansas City, MO.

It reminded me of something I learned shooting on beaches, in vineyards, and at destination weddings across six languages and countless cultures.

What Years of Destination Work Taught Me About Kansas City Family Photography

I have photographed weddings on private islands and family sessions in European old towns. Every time, the images that families treasured most included places they recognized.
